18-Hole Round of Golf for Two or Four with Cart Rental at The Club at Silver Lake in Perry (Up to 57% Off)

Golf is one of the few sports in which players can compete against themselves, along with paddleball and seeing how many potatoes they can eat. Put yourself to the test with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $34 for an 18-hole round of golf for two with cart rental (a $68 value)
  • $59 for an 18-hole round of golf for four with cart rental (a $136 value)

The Club at Silver Lake

Stretched out along the western banks of Silver Lake, a gauntlet of bent-grass fairways leads players along a path that presents challenging play and picturesque views of the water. Though play never wanders close enough to Silver Lake proper to render it a hazard, multiple ponds enter play on several holes. The course adds additional challenges with undulating terrain, tall evergreens that line the fairways, and strategically placed sand traps that double as tanning beaches for displaced tourists.

Adjacent to the course, golfers can find respite at The Club restaurant, which offers a menu of classic American dishes to be enjoyed in a dining room with views of Silver Lake.

Course at a Glance:

  • 18-hole, par 70 course
  • Total length of 6,012 yards from the back tees
  • Course rating of 69 from the back tees
  • Course slope of 122 from the back tees

5K or 15K Obstacle-Course Race Entry from Rebel Race on Saturday, July 21, in New Windsor (Up to 61% Off)

Early humans developed the ability to sprint in order to chase down sprightly prey and invented long-distance running to escape from slowly approaching glaciers. Follow in their fossilized footsteps with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $29 for entry to the 5K Rebel Race (up to a $75 value)
  • $39 for entry to the 15K Rebel Race (up to a $95 value)

Registration is required by July 18, 2012.

Both races will be held on Saturday, July 21, in New Windsor, New York. Race waves for the 5K will begin every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the 15K wave will begin at 2:30 p.m. Each participant receives a Rebel sports sack pack, a Rebel T-shirt, a chip timer, a finisher medal, and one free beer upon completion of the course. Obstacles include trudges through mud under barbed wire, ascents across cargo nets, and leaps over roaring flames.

Rebel Race

Rebel Race’s military-style obstacle courses challenge athletes from all backgrounds to shed humdrum day-to-day routines to experience the primal joys of mud, sweat and glory. Emerging from the mire in various states across the country, each Rebel Race packs its rucksack with tests of physical and mental toughness, rousing racers and washing machines alike to triumph in the face of sloppy opposition. After dashing through fire, climbing walls, and scaling mountains of hay, race participants bask in the collective kudos of parties, which include live entertainment, games, and food and beer for purchase. Camping options encourage participants and spectators to transform races into weekend getaways, while awards recognize each day’s standout competitors and most-humble mud pits.

$109 for a One-Night Stay at Blackhead Mountain Lodge and Country Club in Round Top, NY (Up to $250 Value)

Family-Owned Lodge and Golf Course amid Scenic Catskills

Blackhead Mountain Lodge and Country Club is truly a family affair. Opened by Mr. and Mrs. Maassmann in 1967 as a summer resort, the lodge has evolved into a year-round recreation hot spot nestled in the Catskill foothills. Today, you’ll still see the founding couple helping out with the daily upkeep. Sons Ed and Peter share responsibilities of the golf course, the clubhouse, and resort maintenance. You may spot the Maassmann grandkids lending a hand in the restaurant and pro shop. The family prides itself on hospitality, helping guests at Blackhead Mountain Lodge and Country Club to feel right at home.

Designed by Nicholas Psiahas, the country club’s par 72 championship course and its scenic greens are carved into the mountainous terrain, creating a scenic and naturally challenging course. For lunch, grab a chopped sirloin burger or a German pork bratwurst at the 19th hole Club House, located in a rustic century-old barn. Or visit the onsite Maassmann’s Restaurant, awash in cozy, Old-World European-style decor. There, the executive chef whips up contemporary American dishes alongside authentic German fare such as wiener schnitzel and sauerbraten—oven-roasted beef doused in gravy and topped with lederhosen.

Blackhead Mountain Lodge’s 22 rooms spread out across the resort in three motel-style buildings and one house. Admire the surrounding scenery from the comfort of your abode, or relax after a round of golf in front of the wall-mounted LCD TV. In the morning, the chefs at Maassmann’s Restaurant prepare a breakfast feast that includes eggs, pancakes, and french toast.

Round Top, New York: Summer Recreation in the Hudson Valley

Other summertime activities include ziplining, hiking, fly-fishing, and disk golf. The mountain hosts a variety of ethnic festivals throughout the summer, including the annual German Alps Festival (August 11–12), featuring traditional music, dancers, and food.

One-Night Stay with Optional Spa Credit or Two-Night Stay at Barton Hill Hotel & Spa in Lewiston, NY

Old-World Charm Meets Contemporary Elegance at Boutique Hotel Facing Niagara River

The newly built Federal-style Barton Hill Hotel & Spa pays homage to the past while embracing contemporary comforts. Standing on land that once served as the staging grounds for the first battle of the War of 1812, the hotel now provides peaceful respite for vacationers discovering the idyllic vineyards and charming villages of the Niagara region A full-service spa and modern amenities compliment the historic atmosphere of the Lewiston area and the neoclassical hotel.

Beyond the white stone entrance, you’ll find a great room anchored by stately columns and appointed with Greek Revival furniture. Upstairs, spacious Portage Retreat rooms carry on the sense of grandeur, with varying décor that might include four-poster beds, heavy draperies, and wrought-iron chairs. All come with a gas fireplace and an iPod docking station from which to play Riverdance show tunes.

Lewiston, New York: Historic Town Minutes from Niagara Falls

Lewiston was one of western New York’s earliest settlements, dating back to the 1600s. Today, its quaint streets are lined with antique stores and art galleries. Just a 10-minute drive from the hotel, a handful of wineries makes up the Niagara Wine Trail, best known for its ice wine, a sweet dessert varietal made from frozen grapes.

The Niagara River flows past the hotel, about 8 miles upstream from the American side of the falls. Roughly 600,000 gallons of water cascade over the brink each second and create a thunderous roar while sending a cool mist into the air. Niagara Falls State Park offers a variety of lookout points, but one of the best is free: the Prospect Point Park observation tower soars 282 feet skyward for panoramic views of the falls.
