Spirit Day Against Bullying

Today, October 17, is Spirit Day against bullying. Too many kids are dying every week across the country because of bullies. I don’t remember things being this bad growing up. I remember bullies in school, but never deaths resulting from bullying. Parents need to take a more active role in preventing bullying, and here are a few books to help you get your point across. The books are available for preschoolers, as well as for older children. I always speak to my kids about bullying and I ask them everyday about how it went in school. I ask names of kids, just in case anything arises, I know who her classmates are. Amazon has a large selection on items to help you with discussing bullying with your kids. Check them out and share with a friend. You never know who is suffering in silence from a bully, a simple share can  help make a difference.

Castle Hill Little League Parade This Saturday

The Castle Hill Little League is a staple of the the Bronx as it has been around for many decades helping keep kids off the streets. This year they will be having their parade this Saturday, April 27 and it will be a very special occasion as it will be held in honor of the Sandy Hook Victims.

This year’s parade has special relevance, not only for him but for the entire community, as it’s dedicated to the memory of the victims of Sandy Hook. The parade, which includes 800 people and seven marching bands, will feature a special poster designed to commemorate the victims of Sandy Hook and feature all of their names. Other special surprises are set to take place during the parade, which heads down a 45-minute route to the main field where Castle Hill Little League president Henry Pelayo, local politicians and other special guests will speak in a 30-minute ceremony.

Parade begins at 9am on corner of Lafayette & Castle Hill Avenue Ceremony follows at 10:45am at 1160 Zerega Avenue (btw. Gleason and Powell Avenue)
